HP Tops 50,000 SAP Application Implementations, Extends Integrated SAP Portfolio
by Business Wire
In an industry-first milestone, HP (NYSE:HPQ) (Nasdaq:HPQ) today announced that it is the first SAP partner to achieve 50,000 SAP(R) application implementations. E-Customers worldwide have benefited from the companies' integrated solutions portfolio, as demonstrated by the fact that nearly 50 percent of all SAP customers run HP platforms. E-HP will celebrate the milestone with longstanding customer Citrix Systems, Inc., during a ceremony at SAPPHIRE '06 Orlando, SAP's annual customer and partner event. E-HP also extended its broad portfolio of integrated print, IT infrastructure and end-to-end management solutions for SAP customers with new offerings, including: E--Central print management capabilities for SAP NetWeaver(R) - manage document delivery from a single location to streamline workflows and improve the visibility of print status across the SAP applications landscape; E--HP Virtualized Infrastructure Solution for mySAP(TM) Business Suite - adding certified support for Windows(R) environments and expanded management capabilities through Microsoft(R) Operations Manager integration; E--HP OpenView Incident Exchange Service - automated, bi-directional incident exchange between the HP OpenView and SAP service desk solutions. E-Additionally, HP announced the opening of the first Americas SAP Solution Centers in Atlanta and Houston. E[acute accent]"HP is proud to celebrate this major milestone resulting from our nearly 17-year global alliance with SAP," said Ron Eller, vice president and general manager, enterprise solution alliances, Technology Solutions Group, HP. "Together, we will continue to offer our customers proven, integrated solutions that are designed to allow businesses to run more efficiently and with greater adaptability." E--Citrix Systems deploys HP Integrity for SAP applications E[acute accent]Citrix Systems, Inc., a global leader in access infrastructure solutions, turned to HP Integrity Superdome servers to improve the performance, scalability and adaptability of the company's mySAP Business Suite environment at its primary enterprise data center. E[acute accent]Citrix was able to consolidate its existing footprint of SAP application servers and reduce administration costs, while improving overall performance and availability for end users, by deploying two HP Integrity Superdome servers split between the company's development and production environments. Citrix is taking advantage of the flexible capacity, high availability and simplified management of the HP Integrity Superdome servers by running both mission-critical HP-UX 11i and Windows-based SAP applications within a single system, and with the ability to grow capacity on demand within a single footprint. E[acute accent]"As a long-time HP customer and business partner, we've invested heavily in SAP on HP infrastructure for our core business process applications," said Trenton Cycholl, director, IT Application Services, Citrix Systems. "The HP Integrity Superdome servers deliver the performance and flexibility required to keep pace with our rapid user base growth and changing business demands -- resulting from several major acquisitions and consistent organic revenue growth." E[acute accent]Simplified print and output management E[acute accent]HP and SAP are expanding their relationship to address the growing integration complexities associated with print and output management faced by customers. Together, the companies will develop technology solutions that help businesses more rapidly and reliably manage information throughout their organization. E[acute accent]As a first step, HP and SAP will deliver central management capabilities for SAP NetWeaver utilizing the proven HP Output Management technologies. SAP has selected HP's print and output management technologies to embed in SAP NetWeaver to enhance the visibility of print status across the SAP applications landscape. E[acute accent]Central print management capabilities for SAP NetWeaver will allow customers to define, manage and track SAP print jobs across the SAP applications landscape from a single location. The unified interface will help companies improve the reliability of print output, optimize printer utilization, increase control over the SAP enterprise-wide printing landscape, and reduce ever-increasing administration costs. E[acute accent]More information regarding HP and SAP's print and output management relationship is available in a news release issued today at www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom. E[acute accent]SAP Adaptive Computing compliance certification E[acute accent]HP has received the SAP NetWeaver Adaptive Computing Compliance Certification for its next-generation HP Virtualized Infrastructure Solution (VIS) for mySAP Business Suite. HP VIS also adds certified support for Windows environments and expanded end-to-end management capabilities through Microsoft Operations Manager integration. The certification ensures that HP VIS running SAP applications in Windows environments will be fully supported by SAP and Microsoft. E[acute accent]"As any CIO knows, business simultaneously demands increased flexibility, simplicity and performance of solutions and at the same time lower costs," said Andy Mulholland, global chief technology officer, Capgemini. "We are meeting these challenging business drivers through our successful collaboration with HP and SAP. We look to HP for their cost-effective, flexible infrastructure and SAP to deliver business effectiveness. The HP VIS solution is working out in the real world, and we are already making a difference to our joint customers." E[acute accent]Together, Capgemini and HP implemented the SAP Adaptive Computing capabilities for a large, multinational manufacturing company using the HP VIS for mySAP Business Suite on a Microsoft Windows platform. The customer was able to create a completely virtualized environment based on industry-standard HP ProLiant servers for BladeSystem and HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array systems. The customer has realized many benefits, including a more than 80 percent reduction in the time required to implement new IT environments -- down from three days to less than half a day -- and a 25 percent reduction in maintenance costs. E[acute accent]Automated, bi-directional incident exchange service E[acute accent]The new HP OpenView Incident Exchange Integration Service seamlessly automates, simplifies and integrates the incident process workflow between the HP OpenView and SAP service desk solutions. HP and SAP developed and implemented this first-of-its-kind web services-based interface to enable the exchange of incidents and lifecycle control between HP OpenView Service Desk and the SAP Solution Manager service desk component. E[acute accent]The automated, bi-directional and real-time case forwarding/update allows SAP end users to submit, manage and route incidents through a single repository and maintain a consistent per incident status. By providing a common monitoring environment, the Incident Exchange Service helps to reduce incident resolution times and improve the overall efficiency of service desk operations, resulting in higher levels of service to end users. E[acute accent]HP unveils new Americas SAP Solution Centers E[acute accent]Built with a combined investment of approximately $4 million, the new SAP Solution Centers in Atlanta and Houston enable customers to experience and test drive a broad range of SAP solutions running on HP technologies and supported by the companies' joint partners. The centers are designed to: E[acute accent]--host SAP focused technical briefings; E[acute accent]--support proof-of-concept and migration projects for legacy technologies and competitive platform replacements; and E[acute accent]--demonstrate numerous HP technologies and solutions specifically designed to complement SAP applications.
