LogicaCMG sets up SAP center in Philippines

LogicaCMG is planning to set up an offshore delivery center in Makati City, Philippines, for delivering support to SAP clients worldwide.

The UK-based IT services company currently has offshore operations in India that delivers financial business process outsourcing (BPO) and they are setting up the Philippine center to provide mainly human resources or HR BPO services.

LogicaCMG, who currently employs around 50 people in the Philippines, is looking to increase its workforce to 300 people within the year.

"Our target will depend on our ability to attract talent here," Neil Elias, chief executive of LogicaCMG's Philippine delivery center, sad in an interview. At present the company employs 3,000 SAP experts worldwide and is one of the few SAP Global Services partners. Overall, it has some 40,000 employees in 41 countries.

LogicaCMG also plans to provide support to SAP clients in the Philippines and nearby countries in the region.

Referring to the Philippines as the "best-secret" in Europe, Martin Blackburn, head of LogicaCMG's Global Service Delivery, said the company chose the Philippines as its second offshore site, rather than opening a second site in India, because the former is ideal as a disaster recovery site. "More and more high-value work will be delivered from the Philippines," Blackburn said.
